The Center for Cognitive Assessment encompasses a variety of independent clinician collaborators who act as consultants to provide a wide range of services diagnostic testing, psychiatric evaluation and treatment including medication treatment for ADD/ADHD, medications for concussion treatment, and cognitive remediation.

We provide neuropsychological testing and neuropsychological assessment for individuals with a wide range of conditions, such as ADD testing, ADHD testing, testing for learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and test accommodations. We also provide concussion testing and concussion treatment. This is done by administering a variety of tests of memory, thinking, problem solving and other neuropsychological abilities to determine your cognitive strengths and weaknesses. The testing is non-invasive and we can usually complete the testing in one day.
The Center is enriched by its relationship with many expert independent clinicians who are specialists in neuropsychiatry, behavioral neurology, psychopharmacology, and cognitive remediation (memory enhancement training). Our independent clinician consultants are leaders who have academic appointments in the leading institutions in New York.
Meet the Director, Dr. Wilfred van Gorp
The Center is directed by Wilfred van Gorp, Ph.D, a national expert in neuropsychology. We offer neuropsychological testing and neuropsychological evaluation in New York and Chicago.
Dr. van Gorp has led the Neuropsychology testing programs in three of the nation’s leading Departments of Psychiatry: UCLA, Cornell and Columbia University. His career has focused exclusively on neuropsychological testing and neuropsychological evaluation of persons with various medical, neurologic and psychiatric conditions that can affect memory and cognition.
Dr. van Gorp has served on the American Psychological Association’s Council of Representatives, is a former President of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology, and has served Editor of the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology.
A board certified neuropsychologist by the American Board of Professional Psychology, he has evaluated thousands of individuals with a variety of conditions including ADD, ADHD Mild Cognitive Impairment, traumatic brain injury and concussion, learning disabilities, memory impairment/dementia, HIV/AIDS, Lyme disease, and other conditions.
He now offers these services in a private practice. He has appeared on CNN, 60 Minutes, and Court TV, profiled in The New Yorker, and interviewed by The New York Times. Dr. van Gorp has published widely, including over 120 peer reviewed scientific journal articles and almost 35 books and book chapters.
